Konzhin S.I, Kostromina S.N. The Image of the Future in the Structure of Personality Stability During Early Adulthood

In today's unstable environment, the ability to cope with chronic uncertainty associated with a lack of information, difficulties in planning, and the need to regulate life under stress is becoming increasingly important. In this context, characteristics that enable a person to maintain resilience are crucial. Among these, the image of the future should be considered a "key" personality variable, ensuring the preservation of self-identity in various life situations. This study, based on theoretical analysis and empirical testing, substantiates the decisive influence of the the image of the future on personal resilience in early adulthood. The purpose of the study is to determine the extent to which characteristics of the image of the future determine the level of personal resilience.

The author proposes a conceptual framework for the image of the future and its substantiation as a factor in personal resilience. The results revealed groups of respondents with different levels of resilience; differences in the parameters of the image of the future were discovered, reflecting the specific planning and perception of the future in these groups. Personal resilience is supported not simply by the presence of goals, but by their consistency with an emotional attitude toward the future.

The practical significance of this study lies in the potential use of this model for diagnosis and counseling.
